It’s an Eliminator match and winner will find their way to the Final of PSL Season 2. Quetta Gladiators has already qualified for the finals and the clash for the champion is on Sunday. This season seems to be the replica of 1st season Gladiators defeating Zalmi last season and in this season as well. Zalmi would like to create a new history here.

Dawid Malan and M. Hafeez had some really good time in last match which bring them back to the form and the win for their team as well. Shahid Afridi was on fire with his bat and but could not do well in the whole season with the ball. Kamran Akmal has score two half centuries and he has to stay their for a while to get the game going. Samuels is struggling with his form and form for such a good player should not be a challenge to find. Wahab Riaz was the pick of the bowler and took 3 wickets and that too Major One. Iftikhar Ahmed might get a chance to play in place of Haris Sohail and also in last match with Karachi Kings Iftikhar Ahmed picked up two wickets as well. Chris Jordan did not contribute either with a ball or bat. Samit Patel might get a chance in place of Samuels or Jordan as he is an All-rounder.

Babar Azam opened the innings for Karachi Kings and for a while wait and watch game was going on till the Gayle’s wicket fell and sooner Azam’s. None of the player from Karachi made an impact in batting but it was Karachi’s day. M. Amir is back and with him Imad Wasim, Usama Mir took 3-3-3 wickets.

If it is a coincidence or a fortunes, once again same teams, same qualifying round but the only thing different is Season. They are into it again. Karachi and Islamabad coincidentally played their last league stage game against each other, which Islamabad United lost.

Coincidentally last match of the league won by Karachi Kings and that too against Islamabad United. As usual Babar Azam, who is in sublime form showed some class but did not stay too long and made only 27 runs. Gayle, finally his bat started showing its true colors and at the right time when needed. With some fine bowling from Amir, Sohail Khan and Usman Khan stopped Islamabad United to just mere 123 runs.

As usual Dwayne Smith was the highest run getter from I.U. with exceptionally brilliant performance by Shadab Khan who has been performing really well took 3 wickets.

Ben Duckett has already left PSL and West Indies player Nicholas Pooran will be joining the squad. Saeed Ajmal who has been below expectations in this season and he is going expensive as well. Seems Pollard has also found his sweet spot and from last few matches he has started getting runs for the team which is positive for Karachi Kings.

Possible Lineup 1: Sanga(wk), Azam, Smith, Talat, Watson, Malik, Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Sami, Sohail Khan, Rumman Raees

Possible Lineup 2: Sanga(wk), Azam, Smith, Talat, Watson, Gayle/Malik, Shadab Khan,M. Amir, Sami, Sohail Khan, Rumman Raees

Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators (1st Qualifying Final)

They are meeting again to renew their rivalry and Peshawar Zalmi will look to avenge their defeat from the corresponding fixture from last season. Both the teams have finished in the Top Two for the second successive year in the PSL.

They have played each other 5 times so far and head to head stands at 2-2 with one game getting washed out.

Quetta have a batting unit which is in much better form as compare to Peshawar. Rossouw and Pieterson are among the top five rungetters in the tournament. Now the responsibility is more on the openers Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shehzad which are really very inconsistent.

Mahmudullah, Shakib, Tamim and Perera has left for international duties so will not be available for knockouts. Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan are expected to be in the side.

Possible Lineup 1: Sarfraz Ahmad (wk), Samuels, Malan/Afridi, Pieterson, Rossouw, Hafeez, Nawaz/Riaz, Jordon, Hassan Khan, Hasan Ali, Mills

Possible Lineup 2: Kamran Akmal (wk), Samuels, Shafiq/Shehzad, Pieterson, Rossouw, Hafeez, Afridi/Riaz, Jordon, Hassan Khan, Hasan Ali, Mills

Cap: Akmal/Pieterson

VC: Rossouw/Hafeez

One can opt for M. Asghar also to make bowling more stronger, he took 3 wickets in last game though he went bit expensive. Except last match his PSL season till now is not so much to cherish about.

Well we can’t rule out the option of Samit Patel’s chances and this could be the first match for him but Jordan has more probability to play because he has already played few matches and performed well.

Latest Update:

# Peshawar twitter page: it seems Jordon will play most likely and Samit Patel joins Peshawar ahead of the clash.

Karachi Kings vs Islamabad United

They are meeting again and this time I hope D/L method will not be coming in between as Islamabad United was the victim of the controversial method in their last clash. Both the teams are neck to neck on points table and one loss for any team can put other at one of the top positions.

Inclusion of Talented Hussain Talat proved to be a beneficial for Islamabad but Badree did not do well with the ball and went expensive too. Well Badree is one of the specialists of T20 in the world and one match can’t be a decider of his abilities. Whereas on the other side Karachi Kings are still struggling with their opening combination on the one hand it seems Babar Azam has found his sweet spot as an opener but other slot is still seems to be emptied though dropping Gayle and bringing in Jayawardene did not go down well with the team but again one match can’t be a decider.

Possible Lineup: Sanga (wk), Azam, Talat, D. Smith, Watson, Malik, Usama Mir, Sohail Khan, Rumman Raees, M. Sami, 11th.

Those who are looking to make team more of a balanced then they can fill the 11th spot with all-rounder  Shadab Khan/Pollard/Imad Wasim and those who want to make bowling more strong can include M. Amir at 11th spot.

Lahore Qalandars vs Karachi Kings

It’s Lahore vs Karachi again. Last they met Lahore won over Karachi and this time Karachi will be eager to settle its accounts. Hint of a blitzer from none other than Gayle, first time in PSL we saw something is coming but as usual could not stay for long. This time Karachi need their Star Blaster to perform as they have won only 2 matches out of 6.

Lahore is waiting for McCullum to arrive before Gayle and this could be a match to both to outperform each other. Well this we have to see. Men who are in form Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Usama Mir, Tanvir, Aamer Yamin,

Possible Lineup 1: Sanga /Rizwan(wk), Zaman, Azam, U. Akmal, Narine, S. Malik, Delport/Yamin, Sohail Khan, Yasir Shah, Tanvir, Usama Mir.

Yasir Shah has performed well in last two matches, but Fakar Zaman who had shown some class has been a disappointment in last two matches. As Fakar Zaman has failed miserably in last two matches, you can opt for Gayle or McCullum instead. Aamer Yamin has shown some promising performance with bat as well as with the ball so one can opt him in place of Delport.

Cap: Babar Azam/Narine

VC: Malik/Akmal.

Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United

They are meeting for the 2nd time in PSL and surely Quetta will be looking to revenge them for their loss.

In Last Match some beautiful performances by A. Shafiq, A. Shehzad, Mahmudullah and Anwar Ali put Quetta to taste a win against Star Pack of Karachi Kings and we expect the same performance from them this time as well.

Same did not go well with Islamabad United as they lost against Lahore Qalandars in their last match even after putting up the brilliant show by Shadab Khan and Rumman Raees.

T. Perera was not a part of the team due to his performance of last two matches and unlikely to be a part today’s match as Quetta will not be willing to change its winning side.

Possible Lineup: S. Ahmed (wk), Pieterson, D. Smith, Asad Shafiq, Rossouw, Mahmudullah, Shadab Khan, Shane Watson, Rumman Raees, M. Sami, Hassan Khan.

As there are possibilities of Luke Wright to be included into the team as the expense of Pieterson or Rossouw as both are unable to put up a big show. But until and unless it is not confirmed we can’t take a risk.

One can opt Anwar Ali inplace of Hassan Khan. M. Irfan in place of Rumman Raees.

VC: Mahmudullah/Pieterson

Peshawar Zalmi – Lahore Qalandars

Yet another match of Peshawar. Last time it was Peshawar who won the match. But with the likes of McCullum, Umar Akmal, Fakar Zaman, Sunil Narine and Sohail Tanvir anything can happen but no less than entertainment.

Umar Akmal is back in form with a blasting 66 in last match, Fakar Zaman is in form and the only one, most awaited McCullum’s form.

When they met last time, Fakar Zaman was the highest run scorer of the match and highest wicket takers were Yasir Shah and Hasan Ali.

Possible Lineup: K. Akmal/M. Rizwan (wk), Delport/McCullum, Umar Akmal, Fakar Zaman, Tamim Iqbal, Narine, Shakib, Riaz, Hasan Ali, Tanvir, Yasir Shah.

One can choose either Delport or McCullum. As we know both are known for Hard Hitting and McCullum is waiting for his form to be back so you never know when he starts hitting and hitting big. If someone is willing to go with both then sacrifice either Umar or Zaman as to make the team balanced.

Iftikhar Ahmed replaced Hafeez in last match and he took 2 wickets though he did not make any contribution from the bat.

From wicket keeper Rizwan or Akmal both have potential both have performed equally but Akmal having experience.

Cap: Fakar Zaman/Umar Akmal

VC: Narine/Shakib/Delport

Karachi Kings – Quetta Gladiators

Karachi Kings are back in the game so as Pieterson (Quetta). Last time they met and Quetta won by 7 wickets. Both the teams have very strong bowling lineups. Karachi Bowlers – Sohail Khan, Usama Mir, Usman Khan, M. Amir and Imad Wasim and Quetta – Perera, M.Nawaz, Hasan Khan, Mills, Z. Babar, Anwar Ali and Umar Gul.

The Men in form – Riley Rossouw, Pieterson, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Sangakkara, Sarfaraz Ahmed.

So there are many options to make the balanced side.

Batting lineup of Quetta is more stronger with the likes of Pieterson, Rossouw, Sarfaraz and ofcourse Perera who can park the ball outside the stadium anytime.

From Karachi, ofcourse one man is more than enough i.e. Gayle, but unfortunately he is not in form. So they are only left with Babar Azam, Sangakkara, Shoaib Malik.

Possible lineup 1: Sarfaraz (wk), Babar Azam, Pieterson, Rossouw, Shoaib Malik, Perera, Sohail Khan, Hasan Khan, Usama Mir, M Amir, Ravi Bopara/Pollard.

Asad Shafiq did not play in last match and Shehzad is not in form so he is likely to make way for Asad Shafiq.

To make batting side more balance from both the sides I have added Bopara, because Quetta’s bowling is very strong and his chance for batting likely to come sooner than later.

I know many would not like to include bopara so make it even you can take either Pollard which is one possible option or choose Sangakkara in place of Sarfaraz, then you have one place vacant which can be filled by either bowler or All rounder Imad Wasim or M. Nawaz

Possible lineup 2: Sanga (wk), Babar Azam, Pieterson, Rossouw, Shoaib Malik, Perera, M. Nawaz/Imad Wasim, Sohail Khan, Mir, Hassan Khan, M. Amir.

CAP: Rossouw/Perera

VC: Azam/Malik/Pieterson

Latest Update:

# Ryan Mclaren likely to be included in the team

Lahore Qalandars – Islamabad United

Time to say bye bye to Jason Roy and Sam Billings. so Lahore and Islamabad will have to find a good replacement for  Jason Roy and Sam Billings as they have left for West Indies.

After contributing with the bat as well as ball, I believe Cameron Delport will be a part of it for a while and also Jason Roy has left so out of 4 places for foreign players 3 are filled in by Sunil Narine, Cameron Delport, Brendon McCullum and let’s see who will come in place of Jason Roy next. Same goes with the Islamabad who will be their 4th foreign player.

Team: M. Rizwan (wk), D. Smith, Fakar Zaman, Umar Akmal, Misbah, S. Watson, Cameron Delport, Sunil Narine, M.Irfan, M. Sami, S. Tanvir.

You may also opt for B. Haddin though he is not in form. Brendon McCullum did not open in last match but this time he can open as Jason Roy has left.G. Elliott did not play in the last match but he can make a come back and fill in the 4th place which is vacant now after Jason Roy has left. Yasir Shah is struggling with his form and have not performed as per expectations except one match and that too applied with Saeed Ajmal as well.

Cap: Smith/Watson

V-Cap: Zaman/Delport/Rizwan

Update: M. Irfan may not play, so you can take Raees/M.Irfan (Jnr).
